By fostering collaboration, ingenuity, and fun, each session empowers Scouts to explore their creativity, all while working toward achieving their goals. Whether building a winning derby car or designing sustainable animal homes, girls will be inspired to think outside the box and celebrate their unique talents.

Derby CAR BUILDING
Girl Scouts, from Daisy to Ambassador level, are invited to create and customize their own cars for the Pinewood Derby Challenge with Little Miss Workbench's guidance. Participants will start by cutting their designs using hand saws, then move on to sanding with sandpaper and orbital palm sanders. After shaping their cars, they’ll prepare wheels and axles, followed by adding weights at the weigh station to optimize speed, aiming for a target weight of 5oz, factoring in paint. Finally, Scouts will head to the paint station* to bring their creations to life. Once finished, the derby cars will be ready to race!
*Troop Leaders or Coordinators must provide all painting materials if painting takes place during the workshop.
