mission
Our mission is to empower and inspire DIY enthusiasts of all skill levels to build and create. Through hands-on projects, expert advice, and a supportive community, LMW aims to make crafting and woodworking accessible, fun, and fulfilling for everyone—especially those who are ready to roll up their sleeves and tackle their next creative challenge.
history
In 2015, Michele Chiaramonte combined her passion for teaching and woodworking to create Little Miss Workbench, Inc. The handmade wooden toy collection reflects her commitment to education, encouraging children to explore, learn, and engage with the world around them through curiosity-driven play.
Michele holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Master of Science in Teaching from Fordham University. She is an active member of the Committee for Pre-School Special Education in Long Island school districts and a former New York City public school teacher. Throughout her career, Michele has contributed to several educational committees, including the Lincoln Center Institute for the Performing Arts, the Teachers College Reading and Writing Project, and NYC Architecture for Children. She believes that thoughtful, inclusive play is the cornerstone of a meaningful educational experience.
In 2018, Little Miss Workbench expanded to offer woodworking and design classes for children, teens, and adults. These hands-on workshops allow younger students to work with prefabricated and unassembled wood items, learning to sand, assemble, and finish their creations. Older students work with raw materials, completing projects from start to finish. Through the art of woodworking, students build not only physical creations but also essential skills in focus, problem-solving, resilience, determination, and responsibility.
GIVING BACK
We are deeply committed to making a positive impact both locally and globally. As part of our ongoing efforts to give back, we proudly sponsor and contribute to the Boys and Girls Club of Bellport, providing valuable resources and workshops to empower the next generation. Additionally, we support Four Girls for Families, a remarkable local charity dedicated to bringing clean water to communities in Cambodia. Their work is transforming lives, and we are honored to be part of this important mission. We encourage you to learn more about these incredible organizations and their efforts by visiting their websites.
A very special thanks to all the people and the places featured on the site.
